The DTA series carried on the Allis-Gleaner Corporation (AGCO) big standard tractors in a stronger-rated step: the DT-180 A, DT-200 A, DT-220 A and DT-240 A sit above the plain DT models in power. The Allis-Gleaner Corporation emerged in 1990 from the management buyout of the farm-equipment division of Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz, which had previously traded as Deutz-Allis, laying the foundation of today's AGCO group.

With higher power and greater weight than the plain DT series, the DTA series covered the upper segment of heavy standard tractors as used on large North American arable operations for primary tillage and heavy mounted implements, competing with the corresponding large models from Case IH and John Deere.
Used, the DTA series calls for checking engine output under full load, turbocharger and charge-air cooling, transmission and axle drive in the heavier weight classes, and the hydraulics and PTO; frame and front-axle bearings should be checked for wear. Spare parts run through the AGCO organisation.
