Allgaier R (R18, R22) – single-cylinder diesels of Porsche design from Uhingen: 13.2 to 16.2 kW/18 to 22 hp, 1,840 cm³ displacement, 1,600 to 1,700 kg unladen weight
The Allgaier works in Uhingen near Göppingen built the first series-production tractors to Porsche's design in the early 1950s, air-cooled single-cylinder diesels in a distinctive system layout, before tractor production passed in 1956 to the newly formed Porsche-Diesel Motorenbau GmbH. The R series with the R18 and R22 types belongs to these early Allgaier tractors.

The Allgaier R tractors were an important tool of West German agricultural reconstruction in the early 1950s and, with their robust single-cylinder diesel engineering, laid the ground for the later Porsche-Diesel range, which continued this design into the early 1960s. At tractor rallies and among collectors, the Allgaier R is regarded as one of the most sought-after forerunners of the Porsche-Diesel tractors.
On used Allgaier R tractors, condition of cylinder, piston and injection pump, tightness of the gearbox, condition of the steering, and rust on the bonnet and mudguards count; parts are available above all through the active Porsche-Diesel and Allgaier enthusiast community.
