The MF 8700 was Massey Ferguson's top range of the 2010s – standard tractors between 270 and 400 hp from the Beauvais plant in northern France, AGCO's largest European plant, as successor to the MF 8600 and predecessor of the MF 8S. The type logic: 87 marks the range, the last two digits the power step in tens of hp – MF 8727 about 270 hp, MF 8730 300 hp, MF 8737 370 hp, MF 8740 about 400 hp with power boost – S the 2016 upgrade to emission stage IV. The engine in all models is the AGCO Power six-cylinder of 8.4 litres from Linnavuori in Finland, with SCR exhaust aftertreatment and AdBlue – noted in the register as diesel and AdBlue – the transmission the stepless Dyna-VT Massey Ferguson has run as standard in the big-tractor class since 2002; the range does not share the cab with front-axle and cab suspension with the Fendt 900 Vario of the same period, but does share transmission and engine with the Challenger MT600.
