Massey Ferguson MF 8700 (2014–2020) – the big tractors from Beauvais: MF 8727 to MF 8740, the last digits as power step in tens of hp, AGCO Power six-cylinder of 8.4 litres with SCR, Dyna-VT as standard, 220 to 300 kW
The MF 8700 was Massey Ferguson's top range of the 2010s – standard tractors between 270 and 400 hp from the Beauvais plant in northern France, AGCO's largest European plant, as successor to the MF 8600 and predecessor of the MF 8S. The type logic: 87 marks the range, the last two digits the power step in tens of hp – MF 8727 about 270 hp, MF 8730 300 hp, MF 8737 370 hp, MF 8740 about 400 hp with power boost – S the 2016 upgrade to emission stage IV. The engine in all models is the AGCO Power six-cylinder of 8.4 litres from Linnavuori in Finland, with SCR exhaust aftertreatment and AdBlue – noted in the register as diesel and AdBlue – the transmission the stepless Dyna-VT Massey Ferguson has run as standard in the big-tractor class since 2002; the range does not share the cab with front-axle and cab suspension with the Fendt 900 Vario of the same period, but does share transmission and engine with the Challenger MT600.

The register lists 6 versions with 220 to 300 kW from the six-cylinder of 8,400 cm³ and an unladen weight of 10,800 kg.
The MF 8700 is the tractor of the big arable farms in France, Britain, Eastern Europe and North America; the 8S of 2020 with new cab followed it in the same power class.
On used tractors, operating hours, engine and SCR system, Dyna-VT transmission (oil history, calibration), front-axle and cab suspension, hydraulics and electronics, tyres count; parts run through the AGCO network.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
