Massey Ferguson MF 9240 (9000 series) – the brand's flagship model of the 1990s: six-cylinder diesel of 8,270 cm³, 240 hp/176.6 kW, 895 Nm and 9,014 kg unladen weight, 1994–1998
The MF 9000 series formed Massey Ferguson's flagship segment in the 1990s, at the time the brand was taken over in 1994 by the newly formed AGCO group. It targeted large farming operations with a high need for tractive effort in heavy tillage work.

The MF 9240 is powered by a six-cylinder diesel engine of 8,270 cm³ displacement, delivering 240 hp or 176.6 kW at a rated speed of 2,200 rpm and providing 895 Nm of torque. At 9,014 kg unladen weight, 4,928 mm length, 2,440 mm width and 3,145 mm height on a 2,921 mm wheelbase, with a design top speed of 30 km/h, it is the heaviest and most powerful tractor in this selection.
The comparatively low top speed of 30 km/h shows a design geared to pure tractive effort rather than road transport; such a large tractor operates almost exclusively in the field and needs three-point linkage in the upper ISO 730 category for heavy cultivators, ploughs and tillage combinations. Even at 30 km/h the machine falls into the German T licence class.
For a machine of this power class and model year, engine hours, the condition of turbocharger and injection system, and wear on axles and tyres under high pulling load matter especially. Transmission and hydraulic pumps should be checked for leaks, since large tractors of this class were often run in multi-shift operation during harvest.
