This page gathers Jaguar models that the register could not assign to a named range. Jaguar Cars of Coventry emerged in 1945 from the coachbuilder SS Cars founded in 1935 and passed through British Leyland and Ford before moving to Tata Motors in 2008. Daimler, a long-established British maker, was taken over by Jaguar in 1960 and lived on as a separate luxury brand usually sharing Jaguar engineering – the Sovereign was Daimler's trim variant of the respective Jaguar saloon, as with the 420, sold in parallel as the Jaguar 420 and the Daimler Sovereign. The Mark 2 of 1959 is regarded as one of the style-defining post-war Jaguar sports saloons. The S-Type first appeared in 1963 as an offshoot of the Mark 2 and was relaunched as a standalone model under Ford in 1999. The X350 XJ generation of 2003 was the first Jaguar saloon with an all-aluminium body; the XJ220 of 1992 was a limited-production supercar with a twin-turbo V6 that, at launch, was regarded as one of the fastest production cars in the world.
