Uzel, based in Istanbul, is among the firms that built tractors under licence from Western makers as part of Turkey's drive to build up a domestic tractor industry in the 1960s and 1970s; it supplies mainly the Turkish domestic market and exports to neighbouring regions such as the Caucasus and the Middle East. The Massey Ferguson licence basis makes the tractors technically related to the MF ranges known in Europe, though they differ in equipment and distribution network.
On used tractors, the condition of the Perkins or Deutz engine and injection, clutch and transmission, hydraulic tightness and rust on bodywork count; thanks to the component kinship with MF, many spares can also be sourced through the open Massey Ferguson parts market.
