Uzel – other models: the collective page of Turkish Massey Ferguson-licence tractors outside the named ranges, 240 S Gold to Efsane, 37 to 81 kW, Perkins and Deutz engines

This page gathers the Uzel tractors the register could not assign to a named range. Uzel is a Turkish maker that builds tractors under Massey Ferguson licence; the type designation 240 S Gold picks up the Massey Ferguson 240 range, while suffixes such as Gold, Gardener and the Turkish model name Efsane (legend) mark its own equipment and market variants. The engines are mostly from Perkins, in individual versions from Deutz.

The register lists here 8 versions with 37 to 81 kW (50 to 109 hp), with diesel engines.

Uzel, based in Istanbul, is among the firms that built tractors under licence from Western makers as part of Turkey's drive to build up a domestic tractor industry in the 1960s and 1970s; it supplies mainly the Turkish domestic market and exports to neighbouring regions such as the Caucasus and the Middle East. The Massey Ferguson licence basis makes the tractors technically related to the MF ranges known in Europe, though they differ in equipment and distribution network.

On used tractors, the condition of the Perkins or Deutz engine and injection, clutch and transmission, hydraulic tightness and rust on bodywork count; thanks to the component kinship with MF, many spares can also be sourced through the open Massey Ferguson parts market.

In this power class of 37 to 81 kW, the ISO 730 three-point linkage is mostly built to Category I or II, with the PTO running at the standard 540 rpm speed – the same standard values that also apply to the technically identical Massey Ferguson 240-series models in Europe.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
