The 215 (F) from Someca is part of the 15er series. Production: 1965–1968. The engine delivers 22 hp (16.2 kW), has 2 cylinders, with a displacement of 1,135 cm³. Torque is 63 Nm. Rated speed is 2,300 rpm. The machine is 2,860 mm long, 1,465 mm wide and 1,570 mm high. The unladen weight is 990 kg. The wheelbase measures 1,700 mm. Ground clearance is 485 mm. Top speed is 23 km/h. Transmission: 6 V/2 R. The engine is water-cooled. Tyres: front 5.00-15 ASF, rear 10-24 AS. The fuel is diesel. The bore measures 85 mm. The stroke is 100 mm. The compression ratio is 21.5:1. Maximum torque is reached at 1,800 rpm. Construction: frame construction. Injection pressure is 117 bar. The 15 er-Serie series covers 6 models. Rated output within it ranges from 22 to 77 hp; the 215 (F) sits at the bottom of that range with 22 hp. Its immediate neighbours are the 315 above it with 33 hp. Unladen weight within it ranges from 990 to 2,900 kg; here the 215 (F) sits at the bottom of that range with 990 kg. 92 Someca models across 8 series are on record.

Someca Series 15: the turning point towards Fiat technology, from the 215 (F) to the 715/5 L (DT), 16.2 to 56.6 kW, two- and four-cylinder engines with water cooling

With the Series 15, introduced in 1965, Someca's time as an independent designer ended: from that model year, the Saint-Ouen plant built only tractors to Fiat specification. The series thus marks the technical break between the old SOM models and the later Gold Ribbon programme.

The register lists 6 live models: 215 (F), 315, 415 (DT), 615 (DT), 715 (DT) and 715/5 L (DT), built between 1965 and 1968. Output ranges from 16.2 to 56.6 kW, weight from 990 to 2,900 kg, displacement from 1,135 to 4,941 cm3 across two- and four-cylinder engines.

The type names carrying "15" refer to the new Fiat range that Someca now built under licence, technically largely identical to the 215-715 models sold in parallel under the Fiat badge.

For collectors, this short-lived series therefore marks the transition from French in-house design to pure licensed production, which continued until full integration into Fiat in 1983.

Since Fiat tractors of this era were offered partly with water cooling and, on the smaller versions, also with air cooling, it is worth checking the cooling system actually fitted on a given Series 15 example before servicing the radiator or fan. Fiat's tractor division passed into Fiatagri after the Someca era and is today part of the New Holland brand within the CNH group, through which engine and drivetrain parts for the technically related Series 15 can at least be sourced.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
