At Scania, the L designation refers to two different eras. In the 1970s and 1980s, L (and the LS variant) denoted the tractor units and chassis of the then 80, 110 and 140 range with inline six-cylinder or V8 engines, as shown on the model plates in the register under designations such as 110 42, 140 46 or 80 S 42. In 2016/2017 Scania reintroduced the name for a standalone low-entry range with a deeply lowered cab for city transport, refuse collection and construction-site logistics, available with a classic diesel engine, natural gas/biomethane or a fully electric drivetrain.
