Saviem – Société Anonyme de Véhicules Industriels et d'Équipements Mécaniques – was formed in 1955 from the merger of the commercial vehicle divisions of Renault, Somua and Latil, and independently built trucks and buses until 1978, when the brand became part of Renault Véhicules Industriels.
