The Sametto series belongs, at SAME of Treviglio, to the small field tractors of the 1950s and 1960s; the models Sametto 18, Sametto V and Sametto 120 were each also offered in a version with the DT suffix, which in Italian nomenclature stands for Doppia Trazione, meaning four-wheel drive. The series was among the brand's first compact post-war tractors.

As a compact small tractor, the Sametto series was designed for smaller Italian farms as well as orchards and vineyards, where low weight and manoeuvrability mattered more than high engine power; the four-wheel-drive DT versions were additionally suited to hilly terrain. Their compact size also made them handy for towing small trailers and carts around the farmyard.
When buying such older small tractors, check clutch and gearbox condition, one- or two-cylinder engine oil-tightness, the function of the four-wheel drive on DT versions, and corrosion on the chassis and bodywork; spare parts for this early SAME series today are mostly found only through specialist vintage vehicle dealers.
