The Renault Estafette was a van Renault built from 1959 to 1980, regarded as one of the first European delivery vans with front-wheel drive; the flat, transversely mounted engine-and-gearbox unit under the driver's cab allowed for a low, flat load area. The range was produced in France as a panel van, combi, pick-up and minibus among other body styles; the model names 1000 and 800 denote the payload class in kilograms. Renault is one of the oldest French car makers, founded in 1899; the Estafette was developed as an answer to the Citroën HY and aimed to close its lead in front-wheel-drive delivery vans.

As an early front-wheel-drive van, the Estafette shaped the layout of later Renault commercial vehicles and was replaced by the Trafic in 1980; it competed with the Citroën HY and the VW Transporter T2. For more than two decades it was a defining commercial vehicle in France for trades, the postal service and retail.
On surviving Estafettes, key points are corrosion on the floor pan, sills and wheel arches, the condition of the drive shafts and gearbox, and the braking system; parts come mainly through classic-vehicle parts dealers and Renault clubs.
