The Porsche-Diesel Super is the three-cylinder of the Porsche tractors – the range between the Junior with one, the Standard with two and the Master with four cylinders that Mannesmann built in Friedrichshafen from 1956 after taking over Allgaier's tractor division. The design goes back to Ferdinand Porsche's Volksschlepper: air-cooled modular engines with identical cylinders for all sizes, a hydraulic clutch that allowed starting without a clutch pedal, and the red livery with the Porsche script. The type logic: the first digit gives the cylinder count, the following ones the output in hp – Super 308 about 30 hp, Super 318 about 32 hp in the upgraded form, Super 339 about 38 hp; the letters L, N and S mark versions with long wheelbase, normal layout and narrow track, Export the version for overseas markets, B an equipment variant.

Porsche-Diesel built about 125,000 tractors until 1963, then Renault took over sales and production ended – the Super with the smooth three-cylinder was the best-bought model of the middle class and is today the most sought-after Porsche tractor.
Used Supers are collector pieces with prices that reflect the Porsche name; when buying, originality, the condition of the air-cooled cylinders and blower, the hydraulic clutch, gearbox and sheet metal count; the club scene and remanufacturers secure the parts.
