Later models such as the 1255 and 1465 derive from David Brown compact tractors from England, sold by Oliver under its own name, and the Oliver 500 from a Fiat design.

The span from the light orchard machine to the heavy field tractor shows how broad Oliver's line-up was between the 1930s and 1960s, supplemented by bought-in compact models with which Oliver entered the then-growing segment of small farm and part-time tractors in the early 1960s. Oliver itself was absorbed into White Farm Equipment in 1960.
On older Oliver models, the condition of the engine and carburettor, clutch and gearbox and rust on sheet metal and castings count; on the David Brown and Fiat imports such as the 1255 or 500, the availability of parts also matters, running more through the English or Italian compact-tractor market than through classic Oliver channels.
