The Oliver 1600, 1800 and 1900 range was the maker's large standard and utility class from Charles City, Iowa, whose plant traced back to the Hart-Parr Company and which merged into the Oliver Farm Equipment Company in 1929; in 1960 the White Motor Company took over Oliver, so this range already falls into the early White era. The type logic orders the 1600, 1800 and 1900 models in ascending size, the A suffix marking a revised version; the engines range from a four-cylinder in the 1600 to a six-cylinder in the 1900, with a choice of petrol, LPG or diesel drive, one engine listed in the register as a Waukesha-Oliver.

The 1600 to 1900 were among the large field tractors of the American Midwest in the early 1960s and competed with International Harvester, John Deere and Case; the range was replaced in 1964 by the new, restyled series numbered 1550 to 1950.
