Kramer KW Series – narrow-track tractors from Überlingen for vineyard and orchard work, KW 160 to KWD 250, two-cylinder diesels from 1.3 to 1.8 litres, 11.7 to 18 kW
Kramer built the KW Series at its Überlingen plant on Lake Constance as narrow tractors for vineyards, orchards and specialty crops; the KW 160 and KW 200 carry the Schmalspur (narrow-track) designation directly in their name. All four models – KW 160, KW 200, KW 220 and KWD 250 – run two-cylinder diesel engines. Kramer later discontinued tractor production and focused on wheel loaders, which the company still builds today as Kramer-Werke.

The register lists here 4 versions with 11.7 to 18 kW (16 to 25 hp) from two-cylinder engines displacing 1,305 to 1,843 cc. Unladen weights sit at 1,500 to 1,550 kg, length, width and height range from 2,820 to 2,950 mm, 1,120 to 1,580 mm and 1,550 to 1,580 mm, rated speed from 1,600 to 2,200 rpm.
With their narrow track width, the Kramer tractors were designed for row crops, where wider standard tractors could not fit between vine rows or orchard lanes, competing with similar narrow-track models from Fendt, Hürlimann and Holder. The narrow build also eased manoeuvring through tight farmyard passages.
When buying these compact specialty-crop tractors used, check the condition of the steering and front axle given the narrow track, the clutch and gearbox, the tightness of the hydraulics, and corrosion on bodywork after often damp vineyard work; parts are available through specialist dealers.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
