Kobelco SK135SR-2

LC denotes a wider, elongated undercarriage (more ground contact on soft terrain), while NLC ("Narrow Long Crawler") is the narrower counterpart for tight jobsites — both appear on models such as the SK350LC or SK480LC. SR ("Short Radius") is Kobelco's own design for minimal rear overhang: on SR models like the "115SR" or "135SR LC", the tail extends only about 185 mm past the tracks, which suits confined urban sites.

A separate ED line, such as the ED150 or ED190, combines an excavator with a 6-way dozer blade in one machine.

The digit after the hyphen (e.g. SK200-8) marks the generation — Kobelco has now reached generation 10 and 11, each bringing revised engine and emissions technology. When buying used, the generation number is worth checking: parts and control software aren't always compatible across generations.

On the track undercarriage itself, a used-buy check should also cover track tension: tracks that are too loose come off the rollers more easily on rough ground and speed up wear on the track links and rollers, while tracks pulled too tight increase load on the drive sprocket and idler wheel.

Cylinder count (3 to 6) and displacement (952 to 15,241 cm³) further indicate the size class.
