John Deere 6R – Mannheim's mid-range with continuously variable and powershift transmissions, four- and six-cylinder PowerTech engines from 4.5 to 6.8 litres, 107 to 206 kW, models 6R 120 to 6R 230
The 6R range is John Deere's mid-range tractor line for Europe, built since 2011 at the Mannheim plant, the largest tractor factory outside North America. The type designation follows the Deere logic used since 1992: the first digit names the range (6 for the mid class), the following digits the power level – 6R 120 for around 120 hp, 6R 230 for the strongest version. The smaller models run the four-cylinder PowerTech engine of 4.5 litres, the larger ones the six-cylinder of 6.8 litres.

The register lists here 6 versions with 107 to 206.2 kW from four- and six-cylinder engines of 4,525 to 6,800 cm³ displacement. Unladen weights range from 5,090 to 9,500 kg, permissible gross weight from 10,450 to 15,000 kg, lengths from 4,593 to 5,116 mm and widths from 2,550 to 2,750 mm.
In Europe, the 6R range covers the broad field between compact tractor and large field tractor, competing there with the Fendt Vario, Case IH Puma/Optum and New Holland T6/T7; it ranks among the best-selling tractors in European arable farming and cattle operations.
When buying a used 6R, operating hours, the condition of the transmission (PowrQuad, AutoQuad or the continuously variable AutoPowr), hydraulic output and exhaust aftertreatment (AdBlue system, particulate filter) rank among the key checkpoints; spare parts run through the John Deere dealer network.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.

- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
