John Deere's articulated haulers are Bell designs: since 1999 Deere has worked with Bell Equipment of Richards Bay, South Africa, the specialist that builds the haulers for Deere in yellow – and the register rows prove it, because the C and D models carry Mercedes-Benz engines OM 366, OM 442, OM 501 and OM 906 as Bell uses them. The type logic: the number gives the payload in short tons times ten – 250 about 25 t, 300 30 t, 350 35 t, 400 40 t, 460 46 t – C and D are the generations of the 2000s, E the generation from 2011, in which Deere used its own PowerTech 6135 and 6090 engines in the 410E and 460E and partly moved production to Davenport, Iowa; the 300D Water Wagon is the chassis for water-tank bodies for dust suppression.

The Bell design with the single engine up front, the oscillating hitch between tractor and body and the Allison transmission is common in North America in Deere colours; the 460E with 46 t payload belongs to the largest class of articulated haulers, in which only Volvo and Bell itself carry more.
