J.I. Case 94 series (1983–1988) – 1194 to 4994: David Brown from Meltham, Racine and the articulated V8s, the last Case before Case IH, 35 to 294 kW
The 94 series was the last tractor programme J.I. Case launched under its own name before parent Tenneco bought International Harvester's farm-machinery division in 1985 and formed Case IH from it. It gathers three origins: the small and medium 1194 to 1694 come from the Meltham plant in Yorkshire that Case had taken over with David Brown in 1972 – the English designs with three- and four-cylinders ran in Case colours from 1983; the 2094 to 3294 came from Racine, Wisconsin, with Case six-cylinders and the Power Shift transmission; the 4494, 4694, 4894 and 4994 were the articulated large tractors from the Bettendorf, Iowa plant, the 4994 with a V8 diesel of 14,191 cm³ and about 400 hp the strongest Case of its time. The suffix DT denotes four-wheel drive in European sales literature.

In 1987 the Magnum replaced the Racine models, and the Meltham types continued as the Case IH 85 series; the 94s are thus the bridge between the Case era and today's group.
Used, the Meltham models are common farmyard tractors in Europe with simple technology; when buying, engine and transmission (Synchromesh or Hydra-Shift), hydraulics and front axle count, and on the articulated models the articulation joint, transmission and tyres.
