The JCB 8250 belongs to the tractor group and is a model from the British manufacturer JCB. It was developed within the series of heavy field tractors and features a robust construction. Key dimensions are 5,650 mm in length, 2,550 mm in width and 3,390 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,120 mm. The curb weight is 10,640 kg, providing stable handling.

The engine delivers 250 hp (185 kW) at a rated speed of 2,200 rpm and has six cylinders with a displacement of 8,268 cm³. The two‑stage Vario transmission allows flexible gear selection, while a top speed of 70 km/h enables rapid travel between work sites. A fuel tank capacity of 550 l permits long operating periods without frequent refuelling, which is advantageous for extensive field work.

The JCB 8250 is intended for heavy pulling tasks and large‑area field operations. Its high power, substantial torque and sturdy chassis make it suitable for towing heavy implements, transporting large loads and operating in demanding terrain where reliability and endurance are required.

JCB – other models: the collective page of farm equipment outside the named ranges, from the Fastrac 145 and 155-65 through the 2135, 3185 and 3230 Xtra to the 4160

This page gathers the JCB farm machines the register could not assign to a named range – above all the Fastrac, the tractor with which the backhoe-loader maker from Rocester in Staffordshire entered agriculture in 1991, and the Agri telehandlers with which JCB shaped the farm-loader market. The type logic of the Fastrac: the early types 145 and 155-65 give the hp class (and the top speed in km/h), the 2000 and 3000 ranges of the 2000s the series in the first digit and the power in the following ones (2135 about 135 hp, 3230 about 230 hp), Xtra the equipment line; the 4000 (4160 to 4220) and 8000 (8250 to 8330) ranges since 2005 and 2014 follow the same logic with stepless transmission. The Fastrac is a systems tractor with full suspension, disc brakes and central cab that is the only tractor approved for 70 km/h. The telehandlers give capacity and lift height in the digits – 531-70 3.1 t to 7 m, 536-70 3.6 t to 7 m, 560-80 6 t to 8 m – Agri, Agri Super and Agri Pro the equipment lines. The engines come from AGCO Power (Sisu) in the Fastrac 4000 and 8000, from Perkins and JCB (Dieselmax, EcoMax) in the others.

The register lists here 130 versions with 12.9 to 185 kW from three- to six-cylinders of 784 to 8,268 cm³, unladen weights from 840 to 11,870 kg, gross weights from 1,360 to 16,000 kg, lengths from 2,980 to 6,030 mm and widths from 1,520 to 2,600 mm.

The Fastrac is the tractor of contractors and haulage farms in Britain, Germany and Scandinavia; the Agri telehandlers are market leaders of their class in Europe.

On used Fastracs, operating hours, suspension and brakes (disc brakes take road wear), transmission (powershift or stepless), engine and electronics count, on the telehandlers boom, wear pads, hydraulics and axles; parts run through JCB dealers.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
