Iveco 35C14 – the 3.5-tonne Daily with around 140 hp: dual rear tyres C, four-cylinder diesel up to 3 litres, a CNG version offered, lengths up to 9.5 m for box and refrigerated bodies

Iveco was formed in 1975 from the merger of the commercial-vehicle divisions of Fiat, OM and Lancia with the French maker Unic and the German Magirus-Deutz into the Industrial Vehicles Corporation, based in Turin; the Daily arrived in 1978 and has since been developed through successive generations. The type logic: the 35 gives the weight class around 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight, the C stands for dual rear tyres for higher payload, the final number 14 the power step of around 140 hp. Alongside the diesel versions, the register also lists a natural-gas version (CNG EEV) with Euro V emission stage, a sign of the Daily's early gas strategy for inner-city distribution traffic.

The register lists here 7 versions with outputs of 100 to 107 kW, four-cylinder diesels of 2,287 to 2,998 cm³, unladen weights of 2,010 to 3,280 kg, a gross vehicle weight of 3,500 kg, lengths of 6,750 to 9,500 mm and widths of 2,100 to 2,550 mm.

The 35C14 marks the upper power step of the 3.5-tonner within the Daily range and is favoured for long box bodies and refrigerated vehicles, where the extra power over the 35C13 makes gradients and heavier loads easier to handle.

On a used example, the condition of the turbocharger, injectors and timing chain of the four-cylinder, on the CNG version also the gas tanks and their inspection intervals, rust on frame extensions on the long bodies, and brakes and suspension under heavy load all count; parts run through the Iveco service network.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
