The SX series from Hürlimann / Sdf includes the SX 1350. Production: 1998–2004. The engine delivers 135 hp (99.3 kW), has 6 cylinders, with a displacement of 6,000 cm³. Torque is 485 Nm. Rated speed is 2,350 rpm. The machine is 4,320 mm long, 2,450 mm wide and 2,880 mm high. The unladen weight is 6,700 kg. The wheelbase measures 2,750 mm. Ground clearance is 520 mm. Top speed is 40 km/h. Transmission: 18 V/18 R and 27 V/27 R. The engine is water-cooled. Tyres: front 480/70 R 30 AS, rear 580/70 R 38 AS. The fuel is diesel. The bore measures 105 mm. The stroke is 115.5 mm. The compression ratio is 16:1. Construction: unit construction (no separate frame). The SX-Baureihe series covers 5 models. Rated output within it ranges from 135 to 195 hp; the SX 1350 sits at the bottom of that range with 135 hp. Its immediate neighbours are the SX-1500 above it with 150 hp. Unladen weight within it ranges from 6,700 to 7,200 kg; here the SX 1350 sits at the bottom of that range with 6,700 kg. 9 Hürlimann / Sdf models across 3 series are on record.

Hürlimann SX 1350 to SX 2000 – the heavy Swiss flagships under SDF: throughout a 6-litre six-cylinder at a constant 2,350 rpm, 99 to 143 kW, 6.7 to 7.2 t service weight

Hürlimann of the canton of Thurgau was the Swiss tractor maker that joined the Italian SAME group in 1979 and has since belonged, alongside Lamborghini and later Deutz-Fahr, to the SDF group. The SX range was Hürlimann's top power class: heavy standard tractors with the same 6-litre six-cylinder engine across the whole range, in which the models differ by gearbox ratios, equipment and weight, while displacement and rated speed stayed constant – a mark of the shared SDF engine platform.

The register lists 5 versions uniformly at 6,000 cm³ displacement and 6 cylinders, outputs of 99.3 to 143.4 kW at a constant 2,350 rpm. Service weights range from 6,700 to 7,200 kg, lengths from 4,320 to 4,861 mm, widths from 2,426 to 2,500 mm and heights from 2,880 to 2,970 mm.

As the flagship range, the SX series targeted large arable farms looking for a powerful standard tractor above the 100 kW mark, in direct technical kinship with the contemporary top models of Same and Lamborghini from the same group. Hürlimann remained a distinct brand with a Swiss image even as production had long been concentrated in Italy.

On used tractors, operating hours, the condition of clutch and powershift gearbox, hydraulic pump and PTO, front-axle bearings on four-wheel-drive versions, and rust on cab and wings count; parts supply, given the shared design with Same and Deutz-Fahr models, runs through the SDF dealer network.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
