Ford F-600 – medium-duty F-Series chassis for flatbed, tipper and fire-service bodies, six- and eight-cylinder engines from 4,400 to 7,300 cc, 121 to 138.5 kW, also as a Marmon-Herrington four-wheel-drive conversion
The Ford F-600 is a medium-duty commercial vehicle from the Ford F-Series, which Ford has offered since the late 1940s as a graduated modular system from light pickup to heavy truck; the 600 class sits above the F-100 to F-350 pickup ranges and served as a chassis for flatbed, tipper and fire-service bodies. The Marmon-Herrington version listed here denotes a subsequent conversion to four-wheel drive by the US company Marmon-Herrington, which specialised in such off-road conversions.

The register lists here 6 versions with 121 to 138.5 kW from six- and eight-cylinder engines of 4,400 to 7,300 cc, kerb weights of 2,960 to 6,420 kg, gross vehicle weights of 7,260 to 9,534 kg, lengths of 5,950 to 7,900 mm and widths of 2,050 to 2,400 mm.
As a chassis for aftermarket bodies, the F-600 was widespread for decades in municipal, agricultural and fire-service use, competing with the Chevrolet C60/C70 and the Dodge D600. The Marmon-Herrington conversions were used above all where off-road capability was needed on a heavy chassis, such as drilling and oilfield vehicles.
A used-buying check should cover rust on the frame and brake lines, the condition of the clutch and manual gearbox, and on Marmon-Herrington vehicles additionally the transfer case and front axle. Aftermarket bodies should be checked for corrosion at the mounting points; parts for the F-Series are widely available on the aftermarket, less so for the four-wheel-drive conversions.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
