Fendt Farmer 300 LS and LSA (1980–1993) – the mid-range from Marktoberdorf before the Vario: Farmer 303 to 307, the last digit as power step, LS for the equipment with turbo clutch, LSA for four-wheel drive
The Farmer 300 of the LS generation were Fendt's bread-and-butter tractors of the 1980s: presented in 1980 as successors to the Farmer 200 and the 100 range, built in Marktoberdorf and, with over 100,000 units up to the replacement by the Farmer 300 Ci and C in 1993, the most-built Fendt range of its time. The type logic: Farmer marks the mid-range, 3 the series, the last digit the power step – 303 about 52 hp, 304 about 60, 305 about 65, 306 about 70, 307 about 75 hp – LS the equipment with the Fendt turbo clutch, the hydrodynamic starting element that allowed starting under load without clutch wear, LSA the four-wheel-drive version. The engines are MWM diesels from Mannheim: the three-cylinder D 226-3 of 3.1 litres in the small, the four-cylinder D 226-4 of 4.2 litres in the big models, at 2,175 to 2,350 rpm – water-cooled, robust and with mechanical injection pump.

The register lists 7 versions with 38 to 51.2 kW from three- and four-cylinders of 3,117 to 4,154 cm³, torque from 201 to 272 Nm, unladen weights from 2,950 to 3,630 kg, lengths from 3,780 to 3,952 mm, widths from 1,885 to 1,975 mm and heights from 2,552 to 2,610 mm.
The Farmer 300 LS are today the most sought-after used tractors of their class in southern Germany and Austria – grassland farms value the turbo clutch, the agility and the parts supply, and prices for good 306 LSAs lie far above those of comparable brands.
On used tractors, operating hours, turbo clutch (leaks, oil level), MWM engine and injection pump, gearbox and four-wheel-drive clutch, hydraulics, cab and rust count; parts run through AGCO and Fendt specialists, MWM engine parts through Deutz.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
