Faun, originally founded as Fahrzeugwerke Ansbach und Nürnberg and later based in Lauf an der Pegnitz in Bavaria, built heavy special chassis for crane superstructures alongside municipal vehicles such as refuse trucks. The LK range in this register, identifiable by model designations with the suffix DEMAG, served as the chassis for mobile cranes from the crane maker Demag; the configurations 6x4, 8x4 and 10x6 in the type designations give the respective axle and drive layout.
