The Zubax Myxa (AD0505) is an FOC motor controller (ESC) from the European maker Zubax Robotics for mid-class UAV drives. It drives one motor, works on 4S to 12S, speaks Cyphal and DroneCAN and weighs only 26 g.

Instead of a continuous current the manufacturer gives a continuous power of up to 1,200 W at an input voltage of 13 to 51 V. The current limit is 37 A, and 45 A for the Z variants, without a split into continuous and peak. At a low cell count the current therefore sets the frame, arithmetically about 0.55 kW on 4S, and at a high cell count the power limit of 1.2 kW. The weight is 26 g for variant A and 27 g for variant B; an aluminium housing adds 29 g. CAN (Cyphal or DroneCAN), RC-PWM and analogue are listed as inputs. The Telega firmware exists in version 1 for Cyphal (formerly UAVCAN v1) and in version 0 for DroneCAN (formerly UAVCAN v0).

Frame and law: CAN connection pays off with long leads and when speed, current and temperature are to be monitored. A multicopter of this class falls, depending on take-off mass, into EU classes C1 to C3; Remote ID and operator registration concern the aircraft. On 12S an ampere-hour of battery is 44.4 Wh, and from about 2.3 Ah a pack passes the IATA limit of 100 Wh.

For selection the bus system decides: flight controller and ESC must speak the same protocol, Cyphal or DroneCAN, and the firmware version has to match. The aluminium housing improves heat removal and protects the board, but costs 29 g. Wear: check connectors and solder pads under vibration, and watch for discolouration after heat.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
