The ModalAI VOXL 2 Mini (USA) is the scaled-down version of the VOXL 2 with the same compute performance of the Qualcomm QRB5165. It measures 42 × 42 mm with a hole pattern of 30.5 × 30.5 mm, so it fits FPV-size stacks, and is meant for small platforms and mid-size multicopters.
The processor has eight cores at up to 3.091 GHz and an NPU rated at 15 TOPS, plus 8 GB LPDDR5 and 128 GB flash. Two TDK ICM-42688-P IMUs and one barometer (ICP-10100 or ICP-10111) form the sensor set. Interfaces available are four MIPI camera inputs, USB3 and extensions for WLAN, 5G, LTE and Microhard. PX4 and ArduPilot are supported. The module weighs 11 g and draws between 0.5 and 8 W; compared with the VOXL 2, mass and number of camera inputs drop while compute performance stays.
ModalAI declares the module as conforming with Section 848 of the 2020 NDAA and assembles it in the USA, which counts for contracts with US federal authorities. In the EU the finished drone decides: if it stays below 250 g with battery, camera and frame, it falls into class C0, below 900 g into C1.
Selection and wear: on 42 × 42 mm, 8 W produces waste heat that calls for a heat sink or airflow; room for it has to be planned in the stack. Camera cables and connectors are the weak points under vibration. Flight controller and Linux environment are updated separately, and after every modification the IMU and camera alignment must be checked again.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
