The NR1700 from Hertz Systems (Poland) is a handheld drone neutralisation device from the HAWK Portable line. It works by directional radio jamming: the signal that steers the drone is overlaid. Depending on the drone's failsafe, the result is a return, a landing or a crash.
The manufacturer is Polish, but operation there, as in Germany, is reserved for authorities. Under Article 42 of the Electronic Communications Law (Dz.U. 2024 item 1221), devices that prevent telecommunication in an area are permitted only in cases regulated by statute; those who may order them include the Minister of National Defence, the Minister of the Interior, the Police, the Border Guard, the Military Police, ABW, SKW, SOP and the tax and customs administration KAS. Drone defence is governed by Article 156ze of the Aviation Law. In Germany every use of frequencies needs an assignment (Section 91(1) TKG), and defence follows Section 15a LuftSiG. Private persons may not operate jammers in either country.
The manufacturer states an effect range of up to 1.7 km under favourable conditions and a runtime of up to 60 minutes. The unit weighs 3.7 kg, measures 574 × 310 × 180 mm and is held in the hand. A directional effect means that only what lies along the beam is jammed, so the surroundings are burdened less than with all-round devices. The manufacturer names police, military and events as fields of use.
In selection, the runtime of up to 60 minutes must be weighed against the duration of an operation: it sets the battery requirement and how often packs are changed or charged. At 3.7 kg the unit is still handheld, but remains purely an effect component whose target must be assigned by a situational picture or detector. Wear concerns the battery (cycle count, cell voltage), the antenna and output stage in continuous operation, and the housing and connectors. Radio jamming is ineffective against drones without radio or with fibre-optic control.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
