The Happymodel EP2 ELRS 2.4G Receiver is a tiny ExpressLRS receiver for 2.4 GHz with a built-in SMD ceramic antenna, made by Happymodel (Quzhou Yunduan Intelligent Technology, China). It works with an ESP8285 and an SX1280 and needs no external antenna. That saves a loose cable but requires a well-chosen position in the frame.
The receiver weighs 0.44 g and measures 10 x 10 x 6 mm. The packet rate is 500 Hz at most, 2 ms between two packets by calculation. This packet interval is not end-to-end latency. A ceramic antenna on the board radiates less directionally and as a rule more weakly than a free wire antenna; for flights nearby and indoors that is sufficient, for longer distances less so. Telemetry reports signal strength and battery voltage to the radio.
In the EU the limit in the 2.4 GHz band without a licence is 100 mW EIRP; the transmitter module in the radio has to be set so that it respects this limit. Equipment may be operated in the EU only in the approved frequency ranges and power levels. In the open category visual line of sight applies, and the range of the ceramic antenna is as a rule enough for that.
When choosing, the mounting location counts: the ceramic antenna must not sit behind carbon fibre, a battery or metal, because the signal is shielded there. The ExpressLRS version of receiver and transmitter module has to match. A ceramic antenna cannot be exchanged or aligned; if it is damaged, the receiver has to be replaced. Solder pads are the second wear point in crashes.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
