Elbit Systems ReDrone

The ReDrone from Elbit Systems (Israel) is a 360-degree system that detects and locates drone and operator by radio direction finding and disrupts the link with a smart jammer, automatically or manually. It can be used mobile, fixed and portable, and according to the manufacturer one person sets it up in under 20 minutes. The manufacturer names the military, critical infrastructure and airports as fields of use.

Two features define it. First, it locates not only the drone but also the pilot, which is possible through the control link as long as the remote control transmits. Second, the jammer works with waveform control: the disruption is matched to the particular radio link. How far detection and jamming reach depends on the radio link, terrain and configuration; drones without a radio link go undetected.

According to the approval note, use in the EU is allowed only for authorised authorities and armed forces, and it is not sold to private individuals. Jammers may be operated only by authorities and armed forces in Germany (§ 91 TKG) and in Poland (Art. 42 of the Electronic Communications Law, Dz.U. 2024 item 1221). Who may act actively against drones is narrowly fixed by law: in Poland Art. 156ze of the Aviation Law (Dz.U. 2025 item 179), in Germany hazard prevention lies with the police, with the armed forces under § 15a LuftSiG as administrative assistance. Operators of critical infrastructure, airports and event organisers can limit themselves to detection; radio detection touches the secrecy of telecommunications (Fernmeldegeheimnis), and its legal classification is considered open.

With portable and mobile set-ups, the weight of the components, batteries, antenna mast and operating temperature count; with a fixed installation, the mast foundation and power supply. For detection and jammer, software updates for new drone models and frequencies remain decisive; operator training belongs to operation because the jamming can also be steered by hand.
