The DroneGun Mk4 from DroneShield (Australia) is a pistol-shaped handheld jammer against drones. It jams the ISM bands that carry control and video, as well as satellite navigation (GNSS). When the link is cut, the drone returns, lands or crashes depending on its failsafe; without GNSS it also loses its position fix.
Legally the device is reserved for authorities and armed forces. In Germany every use of frequencies requires an assignment from the Bundesnetzagentur (Section 91(1) TKG) and drone defence follows Section 15a LuftSiG; in Poland, under Article 42 of the 2024 Electronic Communications Law, operation is limited to the bodies named in the statute, and drone defence falls under Article 156ze of the Aviation Law. In the USA the manufacturer states that it supplies only government agencies (FCC). GNSS jamming affects every navigation receiver in the surroundings, not only the drone. The manufacturer also names prisons as a field of use; whether jamming there is allowed is legally open.
At 3.2 kg including battery the Mk4 is a handheld unit protected to IP67 against dust and temporary immersion. The manufacturer states an operating time of more than one hour and a start-up time under 3 seconds. The jamming acts directionally on broad ISM bands and on GNSS. How far the effect reaches depends on power, the geometry between pilot, drone and jammer, and the drone type. Military, police, prisons and events are named as fields of use.
In selection, the key difference from pure radio jammers is the simultaneous intervention in radio and GNSS: it acts on more drones and failsafe variants, but burdens the surroundings more heavily. Wear concerns the battery (cycle count, cell voltage after storage), the seals that sustain the IP67 rating, and the connectors. Software version and coordination with the frequency authority determine what is permitted and possible in use.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
