The CubePilot Cube Blue H7 (Australia) is the US-made counterpart of the Cube Orange and an autopilot module for mid-size multicopters. The Cube plugs into a carrier board that supplies connections and power.

The main processor is an STM32H753 with 2 MB flash and 1 MB RAM, plus a 32-bit failsafe coprocessor that takes over the outputs if the main processor fails. Three temperature-controlled IMUs and two barometers give the autopilot the redundancy demanded for commercial use; the heater keeps the sensors at a constant temperature, which limits drift in the cold. PX4 and ArduPilot are supported. The Cube provides 14 PWM, 5 UART (2 with flow control), 2 I2C, 1 SPI, 2 CAN, RC inputs (CPPM, DSM, S.BUS) and 3 analogue inputs.

CubePilot declares its products, except Herelink, as NDAA compliant; this includes the Cube Blue H7 and may be required for contracts with US federal authorities. In the EU the class of the finished drone applies to operators and, where required, Remote ID.

When selecting, ask the manufacturer which IMU types are in the delivered batch before filters and damping are designed. The Cube module sits in the carrier board; wear shows at the contacts of the connectors and in the IMU damping. After every modification the accelerometer and compass are calibrated, and the firmware is kept in line with the carrier variant.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
