The CNHL 20000mAh 6S 15C is a LiPo battery from CNHL (China Hobby Line) for mid-size multicopters. Six cells in series give a nominal 22.2 V; at 20 Ah the pack is built for flight time rather than the extreme current spikes demanded by small FPV drones.

22.2 V and 20 Ah work out at 444 Wh. At 2,300 g that is about 193 Wh/kg at pack level, a usual figure for standard LiPo without high-voltage or semi-solid chemistry. The maker quotes 15C continuous and 30C peak discharge; on 20 Ah that is 300 A and 600 A. This is the limit of the pack, not the load of a multicopter: the hover current of a mid-size aircraft is far lower, and an XT90 connector is rated for about 90 A continuous.

444 Wh is far above 160 Wh. Under the IATA passenger leaflet (February 2019 edition) such a battery cannot travel as a spare in hand baggage; it moves only as dangerous-goods cargo. Every shipment requires cells and pack to pass the UN 38.3 tests. Airlines may apply stricter rules, so the current edition should be checked before travel. The 2.3 kg pack weight counts towards take-off mass, which defines the EU classes C0 to C4 (C2 below 4 kg, C3 and C4 below 25 kg).

When choosing, cell count (6S) and the XT90 connector must match the ESC and motors. Wear shows in voltage sag under load and in internal resistance: once the sag grows or cell voltages at the seven-pin balance lead drift apart, the pack is finished; swollen packs are out. Storage means about 3.8 V per cell, here 22.8 V, in a cool place. At 20 Ah charging takes long, and regular balancing keeps the cells together.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
