The Auterion Skynode S is a compact autopilot with mission computer for small UAS and mid-size multicopters. It combines an FMUv6X flight controller with a computer for camera and payload tasks and runs PX4 and the manufacturer's own AuterionOS.
The mission computer has an ARM Cortex-A53 with four cores at 1.8 GHz and an NPU rated at 2.3 TOPS for neural networks; flight control runs separately on the FMUv6X. Interfaces are USB-C (host), USB 2, GPS, the Extras 1 and 2 ports, two MIPI cameras and an ESC connection for up to 8 motors or servos. The input voltage is 12 to 36 V at a maximum input power of 30 W. The module measures 49 × 39 × 21 mm including a 15 mm heat sink and weighs 38 g, of which 14 g are the board and 24 g the heat sink.
Auterion declares the Skynode S as NDAA compliant, which matters for contracts with US federal authorities. For operators in the EU the finished drone is what counts: class, Remote ID and, for flights beyond visual line of sight, the specific category.
As a manufacturer-bound system the Skynode offers ready integration but less freedom in payload and ground station. When selecting, note that the heat sink makes up the larger part of the mass and needs airflow. The 30 W input power belongs in the power budget of the supply module. AuterionOS and PX4 are updated together; connectors and camera cables are checked under vibration.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
