The Anvil from Anduril Industries (USA) is a rotary-wing interceptor drone launched from a launch box; its target is assigned through the Lattice software. The Anvil-M variant, introduced in October 2023, additionally carries a munition and a fire-control module. The manufacturer names the military as the field of use.

The Anvil works by kinetic ramming, which according to the manufacturer keeps collateral damage low. The launch containers stand permanently in place, so the design is meant to protect a site, not to move between locations. Because target assignment runs through Lattice, the Anvil depends on sensors that supply the target. The stated target class is the US groups 1 and 2: group 1 extends to 20 lb (about 9 kg), group 2 to 55 lb (about 25 kg).

As a kinetic interceptor the Anvil belongs to the sphere of state defence. For destroying, disabling or taking over drones, Poland applies Art. 156ze of the Aviation Law (Dz.U. 2025 item 179), which reserves this to designated state bodies. In Germany the federal and state police are in principle responsible for hazard prevention, and § 15a LuftSiG governs help from the armed forces as administrative assistance. Operating jammers is reserved to authorities: in Germany under § 91 TKG, in Poland under Art. 42 of the Electronic Communications Law (Dz.U. 2024 item 1221).

In ramming the aircraft is normally lost, so stock, shelf life of the energy storage and the number of launch containers matter. For maintenance, the weatherproofing of the containers and the launch mechanism, current software versions in Lattice and function checks of the link to the sensors that supply the target count.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
