DAF XB – light-to-medium distribution range of the New Generation, also as the XB Electric: four- and six-cylinder diesels up to 6,690 cc, unladen weight 4,219 to 17,375 kg, gross weight up to 27,000 kg

The XB is the lightest range in DAF's New Generation programme, with which the Dutch manufacturer renewed its entire truck line-up from 2021/2022 and which replaced the previous LF range. The engines come from DAF's PACCAR engine family, with displacements up to 6,690 cc, matching the PACCAR six-cylinder of around 6.7 litres. The register also lists fully electric versions as XB Electric in the 12T, 16T and 19T payload classes, reflecting DAF's electrification of its distribution trucks.

The register lists here 24 versions from four- and six-cylinders up to 6,690 cc, unladen weights from 4,219 to 17,375 kg, gross vehicle weights from 7,490 to 27,000 kg, lengths from 5,310 to 10,750 mm and widths from 2,290 to 2,600 mm.

As a light-to-medium distribution range the XB competes with the Mercedes-Benz Atego and MAN TGL/TGM in inner-city and regional distribution work, where manoeuvrability, low weight and increasingly zero-emission drive are in demand.

Buying a used XB chassis, what matters is the condition of the turbocharger and exhaust aftertreatment on the diesel engines, on Electric versions the condition and charge cycles of the battery, and generally brake and running-gear wear from stop-start distribution duty. Parts run through DAF's dealer network.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
