The DAF CF Series is the Dutch maker's medium-heavy line between the light LF and the heavy XF, built since 1998 and revised several times. The codes after the comma – FA, FAM, FAR, FAQ, FAX, FAD, FTR – distinguish axle configuration, cab style and use within the CF family, from the day cab for distribution work to the tractor unit for long-haul transport.

The CF Series is DAF's highest-volume truck for distribution and medium-haul transport as well as construction bodies, built in large numbers at the Eindhoven plant; it competes with the Mercedes-Benz Actros, the Scania P/G and the Volvo FM. As a construction vehicle the CF Series frequently carries tipper or concrete-mixer bodies on multi-axle chassis with all-wheel drive.
On used examples, check the condition of the clutch and gearbox, the turbocharger and AdBlue exhaust aftertreatment, the frame and bodywork for corrosion and accident damage, the brakes and air suspension, and on construction vehicles additionally the axles and transfer case; parts run through the DAF dealer network. Workshops also recommend regularly checking the cab suspension, which loses damping under intensive use.
