Paccar PX-7 – the Cummins B6.7 under Peterbilt and Kenworth names: 6.7 litres, 200 to 360 hp, certificates since 2014
The PX-7 is not a separate engine but the Cummins B series in Paccar's colours: Peterbilt and Kenworth sell the 6.7-litre six-cylinder in their Class 5 to 7 medium-duty trucks under the name PX-7, just as they list the 8.9-litre as the PX-9. The arrangement dates from the time when Paccar had no medium-duty engine of its own in North America; the European Paccar MX engine from DAF covers only the heavy classes. The EPA certificates are therefore held by Cummins – in the register the PX-7 versions are line-for-line twins of the B6.7.

The number in the name is the output in hp; suffixes such as H, EV or ST denote torque curves and calibrations. The register lists 22 versions with 195 to 360 hp at 2,400 to 2,600 rpm and 520 to 800 lb-ft (705 to 1,085 Nm) of torque between 1,600 and 1,800 rpm; certifications run from model year 2014 to 2026 – the three earliest entries with electronic direct injection and service class MHDD still belong to the previous ISB6.7 generation, the rest to the B6.7 generation from 2017 with the 'Vocational' application.
For fleet operators the kinship means parts, diagnostics and software are Cummins standard, any Cummins workshop can service the engine, and calibrations can be swapped within the certified power ratings.
On used engines the same checkpoints apply as for the B6.7: aftertreatment with particulate filter and SCR, EGR valve and cooler, injectors and the service history with the prescribed oil grades.

What to check before buying
- Match the data plate against the order: frame size, mounting and rating have to agree.
- For used units, ask about winding condition and bearing play.
- Ask about parts availability for this series — the running costs hang on it.
