The Axion 900 is Claas's largest standard tractor – presented in 2011 as the range above the Axion 800, built in Le Mans and at 315 to 440 hp the competitor of the Fendt 900 and 1000, John Deere 8R and Case IH Magnum. The type logic: Axion marks the high-horsepower tractors, 900 the range with the 8.7-litre engine, the last digit the power step – 920 about 315 hp, 930 about 350, 940 about 380, 950 about 410, 960 about 440 hp – Cmatic the stepless transmission that is standard in this range, Terra Trac the half-track version with rubber track units on the rear axle since 2017. The engine is the FPT Cursor 9 six-cylinder of 8.7 litres at 2,150 rpm, with common-rail injection, variable-geometry turbocharger and SCR exhaust aftertreatment; the Cmatic transmission comes from ZF, front axle and cab are suspended, control runs through Cebis and the Cmotion drive lever.
