Citroën C25D – the diesel version of the van from the Sevel alliance with Peugeot and Fiat (1981–1994): four-cylinder engines of 1.9 to 2.5 litres, 1,622 to 2,420 kg unladen weight
The Citroën C25D is the diesel version of the C25, a mid-size van Citroën built from 1981 to 1994 together with Peugeot (as the J5) and Fiat and Talbot (as the Ducato and Express) under the Sevel partnership; the three vehicles shared body and engineering with different badge-level trim. The letter D in the type designation marks the diesel engine as against the petrol versions; the line-up ranged from panel vans and chassis-cabs to four-wheel-drive versions (4X4) and different wheelbases.

The register lists 11 versions with four-cylinder diesel engines of 1,905 to 2,500 cm³. Unladen weights range from 1,622 to 2,420 kg, gross weights from 2,550 to 3,500 kg.
The C25 and its sister models defined the image of the mid-size van in Europe in the 1980s and competed directly with the Mercedes-Benz T1, the Ford Transit and the VW LT. The diesel version was especially sought after by tradespeople and hauliers for its lower fuel consumption, and as a base for motorhome conversions.
When buying a used van of this class, what matters is rust on the sills, wheel arches and around the front spring-strut mounts, the condition of clutch and manual gearbox, and the mileage of the diesel engine, which can reach high figures with good maintenance. The brake system, steering and, on 4X4 versions, the transfer drive all form part of the check; spare parts are widely available through the independent trade and Sevel specialists.
