Case IH builds self-propelled windrowers (swathers) in the WD range, which cut grain, grass and oilseeds and lay them into windrows before a combine picks them up. The WD designation stands for Windrower Drive, the four-digit number gives the machine size; suffixes such as Series II or Tier 3 Canada mark model revisions or the emissions stage certified for the Canadian market, while WDX marks the newest generation. The machines are powered by Case IH FPT engines, the product of CNH Industrial's in-house engine manufacturing (Fiat Powertrain Technologies).
