The 33 series is the last tractor generation from the IH plant in Neuss on the Rhine that continued under the new name Case IH after the merger of Case and International Harvester in 1985 – the successors to the 55 series (633 to 1055) with which Neuss had served the German market since the 1950s, until Case IH closed the plant in 1997. The type logic: the final digits 33 mark the series, the first digit orders the size in ascending order – 533 about 45 hp, 733 about 60, 833 about 70, 933 about 80 hp – A four-wheel drive, V the vineyard version (V533) about 1.17 metres wide. The engines are IH's own three- and four-cylinders from Neuss – D-155 of 2.5 litres, D-179 and D-206 of 2.9 and 3.4 litres, D-239 of 3.9 litres – at 2,180 to 2,300 rpm, water-cooled with direct injection; the transmissions were synchromesh gearboxes with eight or sixteen speeds, the cabs the versions with roll bar or comfort cab, as the register distinguishes in the weights.
