Navistar International emerged in 1986 from the renaming of the storied International Harvester, which had built trucks in the US under the International name since the early 1900s, and continues its truck division under the International brand to this day; through its subsidiary Thomas Built Buses, Navistar also builds school buses on International chassis. The LoneStar is a conventional long-nose truck for North American long-haul transport, while earlier ranges such as the 3000 and 9000 series covered distribution and construction trucks.
