Allis-Gleaner Corporation (AGCO) LT series – LT-70 to LT-90: the mid-size utility tractors after Deutz-Allis, 52 to 65 kW

The LT series held the mid-size utility-tractor class at the Allis-Gleaner Corporation (AGCO), between the compact GT and the big DT series: the LT-70, LT-75, LT-85 and LT-90 with four-cylinder diesel engines. The Allis-Gleaner Corporation emerged in 1990 from the management buyout of the farm-equipment division of Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz, previously Deutz-Allis, becoming the foundation of today's AGCO group, headquartered in Duluth, Georgia.

The register lists here 4 versions with 52.2 to 64.7 kW from four-cylinders of 3,927 to 4,484 cm³ displacement, torque from 319 to 436 Nm at 2,200 rpm, unladen weights from 3,697 to 4,198 kg, lengths from 4,191 to 4,204 mm, a width of 2,108 mm and heights from 2,616 to 2,794 mm – all with diesel engines.

As a mid-size class, the LT series covered the broad field of mixed farm work, from forage production to lighter fieldwork, making it the most sought-after size class for family farms combining livestock and arable work across a wide range of regions.

Used, the LT series calls for checking engine condition and the cooling system, clutch and synchromesh gearbox, hydraulics and PTO for mounted implements, and front axle and steering geometry; brakes, electrics and cab seals should also be inspected. Spare parts run through the AGCO organisation.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
