White Farm Equipment was formed in 1969 from the merger of the tractor makers Oliver, Minneapolis-Moline and Cockshutt, and was taken over by AGCO in 1991, which continued the White brand through the 1990s with its own ranges. Within it, the 8010 Field Master series formed the large, well-equipped class with six-cylinder engines.

With its upmarket cab specification the Field Master series appealed to larger farms in North America and competed directly with the comparable AGCO Allis ranges and the six-cylinder tractors of John Deere and Case IH. In 2001 AGCO dropped the AGCO Allis and AGCO White brands in favour of the corporate AGCO brand; the group had already acquired Massey Ferguson in 1994.

On used 8010 Field Master tractors, condition of injection pump and turbocharger, tightness and shift behaviour of the gearbox, condition of cab mounting, and rust on mudguards and frame count; parts run through the AGCO parts trade. and the condition of the wiring loom.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
