AGCO Allis 9700 series (1996–2000) – the last orange big tractors: 9735 to 9785, the middle digits as power step, 5 as identifier of the Cummins and Sisu generation, six-cylinders of 6.6 to 8.7 litres, 93 to 170 kW
The 9700 series was the successor to the 9600s and the last big-tractor range under the AGCO Allis name before the AGCO Corporation, founded in 1990, dropped the brand in 2001 – orange tractors in which the heritage of Allis-Chalmers and Deutz-Allis ran out. The type logic: 97 marks the range, the third digit the power step – 9735 about 125 hp, 9755 about 160, 9775 about 195, 9785 about 230 hp – the final digit 5 the generation with water-cooled engines that followed the Deutz air cooling of the 9600s with final digit 0. The engines are six-cylinders from Cummins (B5.9 and C8.3), Navistar and Sisu (AGCO-Allis called them AGCO Sisu) of 6.6 to 8.7 litres at 2,200 rpm; the transmission was the 18-speed powershift, the cab the one taken over from the late Deutz-Allis models.
