AGCO Allis 8600 series – mid-size six-cylinder tractors of the early 1990s: 80.9 to 95.6 kW/103 to 119 hp, 6,001 cm³ displacement, 4,930 to 5,035 kg unladen weight
The 8600 series, like the smaller 4600 range, belonged to the tractors AGCO continued to build under the AGCO Allis brand after taking over the North American Deutz-Allis business in 1990/91; it occupied the mid power class with six-cylinder engines. In layout and cab the series directly followed on from the last independent Allis-Chalmers models of the 1980s.

The register lists here 2 versions with 80.9 to 95.6 kW, or 103 to 119 hp, from six-cylinders of 6,001 cm³ displacement, unladen weights from 4,930 to 5,035 kg, a length of 4,560 to 4,663 mm, a width of 2,286 to 2,350 mm, a height of 2,870 to 2,951 mm, and torque of 347 to 446 Nm at 2,500 rpm.
In this power class AGCO Allis competed with the established six-cylinder tractors of John Deere, Case IH and Ford New Holland for mid-size and larger farms in North America and Europe. In 2001 AGCO dropped the AGCO Allis and AGCO White brands in favour of the corporate AGCO brand; the group had already acquired Massey Ferguson in 1994.
On used 8600s, condition of injection pump and turbocharger, gearbox shift behaviour, tightness of hydraulics and PTO, and rust on mudguards and cab frame count; parts run through the AGCO parts trade. and the condition of wiring loom and instrument panel.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
