The three-cylinder diesel engine has a displacement of 784 cc and produces 16 hp, or 11.8 kW. At 2,340 mm long, 955 mm wide, 2,170 mm high, with a 1,207 mm wheelbase and 580 kg unladen weight, the KE-160 reaches a design top speed of 12.9 km/h.
At only 955 mm wide, this tractor belongs to the narrow-track class needed for work between tight rows of trees in orchards or rice paddies, and on small, awkwardly shaped plots where larger standard tractors have no room. The low weight also spares the soil in wet conditions.
When buying such a compact Yanmar tractor, the condition of the three-cylinder injection system and the tight steering-gear components, which are worked harder on narrow-track machines, matter most. As Yanmar engines of this line were widely used, parts for the engine and clutch are usually easy to source, while body panels can be harder to find depending on the age of the machine.
